Everything you need to know to get started on Pirros

Updated over a week ago

Welcome to Pirros—your path to simplified and efficient detail management begins now. This article will guide you through the tools and steps needed to successfully set up and manage your account.

Step 1: Log in

Once your account is ready, you’ll receive an email from [email protected]. Just open it and follow the instructions to sign in at app.pirros.com.

Step 2: Install the plugin

You may bypass this step if you are not a Revit user.

Once you log in, the next step is to install the plugin. Navigate to this link and download the plugin: https://app.pirros.com/plugin

Once the plugin is successfully installed, you will see a new Pirros tab appear in your Revit window:

Step 3: Log into the plugin

You may bypass this step if you are not a Revit user.

As soon as the plugin installs, open Revit. Click on the Pirros tab at the top navigation bar and click Settings:

Click Login once the dropdown menu appears:

A dialog box will open asking you to log in with the same credentials that you used in Step 1 (you will not be asked to log into the plugin again in the next 6 months):

Step 4: Search for details using the search engine

Click on the Details tab at the top navigation bar to see the search engine at the top:

Type anything you would like to search for and click Search:

Pirros analyzes each detail’s view name, title on sheet, and in‑detail annotations against your keywords to deliver the most relevant results.

All Details vs. Typical Details:

All Details - all of your project details, whether vetted or not, will live on this tab.

Typical Details - this section will display your vetted and approved details. These details will carry a Typical Detail tag:

Detail card structure:

Your admins can modify this setting for your entire firm. Consult with an admin in case your view settings are customized.

Step 5: Download details into your Revit model

You may bypass this step if you are not a Revit user.

Checkmark any details you would like to use in your project and download them into your Revit model by clicking Stage for Download:

See Download Details from Pirros for more steps on downloading details into your model.

Step 6: Share details with colleagues

You won’t always need to download details directly into your active model. In some cases, you may want to collaborate with a colleague on a specific set of details. To do this, select your most needed details and share them with a drafter by creating a user stash.

See Create Stashes for more directions on how to create stashes, add details to them, and share them with team members.

Step 7: Request details and projects from admins

If you cannot locate the detail you are looking for, you may ask an admin to upload it for you.

Click Details and Request Details at the top right corner:

See Request to Download Details for more more information on how to request details from admins.

If you have a specific project that you can't find in Pirros, you can fill out the project request form and attach your project to your request by following these steps:

  1. Click Projects at the top navigation bar.

  2. Click Request Project and fill out the request form.

Navigate to Request Projects to be Uploaded to Pirros for more information on how to request projects.

Step 8: Flag details for review

If you come across an incorrect detail that needs to be edited, you can easily flag it for review. We'll automatically notify your admins and keep you updated once the revision is complete. You can rely on us to handle all internal communications seamlessly.

To flag a detail for review, simply click on the detail in question and click on the Flag icon at the top right corner of the screen:

See How to Flag a Detail for Review for more information.
