How to implement and manage Pirros at your firm

Updated over a week ago

Welcome to Pirros—your journey to more streamlined and efficient detail management starts here. In this article, we’ll walk you through the tools and steps to set up your account and manage it effectively.

Step 1: Log in

Once your account is ready, you’ll receive an email from [email protected]. Just open it and follow the instructions to sign in at app.pirros.com.

Step 2: Install the plugin

Once you log in, the next step is to install the plugin. Navigate to this link and download the plugin: https://app.pirros.com/plugin

Once the plugin is successfully installed, you will see a new Pirros tab appear in your Revit window:

Step 3: Log into the plugin

As soon as the plugin installs, open Revit. Click on the Pirros tab at the top navigation bar and click Settings:

Click Login once the dropdown menu appears:

A dialog box will open asking you to log in with the same credentials that you used in Step 1 (you will not be asked to log into the plugin again in the next 6 months):

Step 4: Begin uploading models

Navigate to your Pirros account at app.pirros.com and click on the Details tab. Click Add Details at the top right corner of the screen:

See Upload Details Directly on the Pirros Web App for more steps on uploading models into Pirros.

Step 5: Search for details using the search engine

Click on the Details tab at the top navigation bar to see the search engine at the top:

Type anything you would like to search for and click Search:

Pirros analyzes each detail’s view name, title on sheet, and in‑detail annotations against your keywords to deliver the most relevant results.

All Details vs. Typical Details:

All Details - all of your project details, whether vetted or not, will live on this tab.

Typical Details - this section will display your vetted and approved details. These details will carry a Typical Detail tag:

Detail card structure:

You can customize how your detail card appears in the Settings Firm Settings Display:

Please keep in mind that changing this setting will apply to your entire firm and all users included therein.

Step 6: Stage details for download

Click on the detail you would like to download into your active model in Revit and click Stage for Download:

See Download Details from Pirros for more steps on downloading details into your model.

Step 7: Link your Revit project to Pirros

After you stage a detail for download, Revit will prompt you to enter the project information—this tells Pirros which project to add the downloaded detail into. You will need to insert the Project Name and Project Number to link the model to Pirros:

Step 8: Navigate to the Projects page

Click on the Projects tab at the top navigation bar to see a list of all your active and completed projects, along with each of their details:

The Projects tab is divided into two sections:

  • Active projects - New projects linked to Pirros without any details downloaded into it.

  • Completed projects - Projects linked to Pirros with details inside of it.

You can use the project filters on the left to narrow down your search and land on exactly the projects you were looking for:

Step 9: Create firm stashes

Firm stashes are mini‑templates—a curated collection of details that everyone at your firm can access. For projects you tackle frequently, where the same set of details is used over and over, simply create a firm stash, add the required details to the stash, and your team can download them straight from that stash—no more repetitive searching. See Create Firm Stashes for more insight.
