Upload Details to Pirros Directly from Revit

Use the Revit plugin to push details from your open model into Pirros.

To upload specific details from a Revit model you already have open, use the Pirros plugin's Sync feature. This gives you control over exactly which views get uploaded β€” unlike the web app, which uploads entire models at once.

Prerequisites:

  • The Pirros Revit plugin must be installed. See "Revit Plugin: Setup Guide."

  • You need the Admin role to upload content.

How to Upload Details from Revit

  1. Open the Revit model containing the details you want to upload.

  2. Click the Pirros tab in the Revit ribbon.

The Revit ribbon showing the Pirros tab. Click it to access all Pirros plugin features.

  3. Click Settings, then Login to sign into your Pirros account.

The Pirros plugin login screen with email and password fields.

  4. After logging in, click Settings again and open Project Settings.

The Pirros plugin Settings panel with the Project Settings button visible.

  5. Set the model type: choose Project (for project-specific details) or Typical Details (for your firm's standard library).

  6. If you selected Project, enter the Project Name and Project Number to link this model to a project in Pirros.

The Project Settings form with Project Name and Project Number fields. These link the uploaded details to the correct project on the Pirros website.

  7. Click Sync.

  8. Under Filter Views, select Not Linked to show only details that haven't been uploaded yet.

The Sync dialog with the Filter Views dropdown set to Not Linked, showing only views not yet in Pirros.

  9. Toggle on Show Views Not on Sheets if you want to see details that aren't placed on any sheet.

  10. Select the details, schedules, legends, and sheets you want to upload by checking each one.

  11. Click Submit.

Processing time depends on the model size and number of details. Wait for the "Finished" confirmation in Revit before closing or starting another sync.

Once complete, the uploaded details appear in Pirros under the project (or Typical Details section) you specified in Project Settings.

FAQ

Q: Should I upload from Revit or the web app?

A: Use Revit when you want to pick specific views from an open model. Use the web app when you want to upload an entire model file at once.

Q: What does "Not Linked" mean in the filter?

A: It shows views that have no Pirros ID β€” meaning they haven't been uploaded to Pirros yet. This helps you avoid uploading duplicates.

Q: Can I upload to multiple projects in one session?

A: Not from the same model. Each model is linked to one project (or Typical Details) at a time via Project Settings. To upload to a different project, change the Project Settings first.

Q: What happens if I upload a detail that already exists in Pirros?

A: If the detail has a Pirros ID (it was previously uploaded or downloaded), syncing creates a new version rather than a duplicate. See "Understanding Pirros ID."

Q: Do I need to be online the entire time?

A: Yes. The sync uploads directly to Pirros servers. If the connection drops during upload, you'll need to try again.
