What this article covers: installing the Pirros Revit plugin — your firm's detail and family library inside Revit.
This article is not about Mira. Mira is a separate product with its own installer from mira.pirros.com. Nothing on this page applies to Mira. In particular, if Mira is asking you to allow a permission (for example Allow CreateDynamicTool), that is a prompt inside the Mira chat panel — it is not a Windows prompt, it does not require administrator rights, and you do not need to contact IT. Prerequisite: You need administrator-level access to your computer to run the plugin installer. If you do not have admin access, contact your IT department before proceeding. This applies to installing and updating the plugin only — it is not needed to use Pirros or Mira day to day.
The Pirros Revit plugin connects Revit directly to your Pirros library. With the plugin, you can download details and families from Pirros into your active Revit project, sync changes back, and upload new content — all without leaving Revit.
Two plugin generations exist. Revit 2024 and newer receive Pirros in Revit — your full library as a dockable panel. Revit 2023 and older use the classic plugin. The download and installation steps below are the same either way; the installer gives each Revit version on your machine the right one. Download the Plugin
Go directly to the download page: app.pirros.com/plugin
Or find it from within Pirros:
Click the dropdown arrow next to your initials in the top-right corner of the Pirros web app.

2. Click Revit Plugin.

3. Click Download.
Install the Plugin
Close all instances of Revit — including any open dialog boxes or background processes.
Navigate to your Downloads folder and run the installer (.msi file).
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Verify the Installation
Open Revit.
Look for the Pirros tab in the top navigation ribbon.

If the Pirros tab appears, the installation was successful.
Update the Plugin
The plugin auto-updates if you have admin access to your computer. To verify you are on the latest version or to enable auto-update:
In Revit, click the Pirros tab.
Click Settings then About.

3. Check the Auto Update checkbox to ensure future updates install automatically.
If auto-update is not available (for example, because your IT department manages installations centrally), ask your IT team to deploy the latest version. See the article on remote installation for IT-managed deployments.
New versions roll out in stages. Pirros releases each new plugin version to firms gradually, not to everyone at once. A version listed in the Plug-in Release Notes may not be available to your firm yet — the version your firm receives (through both auto-update and the download page) is the one currently assigned to your firm, so neither will move you ahead of the rollout. This is expected. To get your whole firm onto the newest version right away, contact Pirros support or your CSM and we can enable it for you.
FAQ
Q: Which Revit versions does the plugin support?
A: The plugin supports Revit 2020 through 2026. It installs for all supported versions automatically. Q: Will I get Pirros in Revit or the classic plugin?
A: It depends on your Revit version. Revit 2024 and newer get Pirros in Revit — the docked panel — as it is enabled for your firm. Revit 2023 and older use the classic plugin. Q: Is Mira installed with this plugin?
A: No. Mira is a separate product with a separate installer, downloaded from mira.pirros.com. Installing the Pirros plugin does not install Mira, and installing Mira does not install the Pirros plugin. You can run both at the same time. See Meet Mira: The AI Agent for Revit.
Q: Do I need to uninstall the old version before updating?

Q: The release notes show a newer version than the one I have. Why don't I have it yet?
A: Pirros rolls out new plugin versions to firms in stages, so a version in the release notes won't reach every firm on the same day. Until your firm is assigned the newer version, auto-update and the download page keep serving your firm's current version — they won't jump ahead of the rollout. If you need the newest version right away, contact Pirros support or your CSM and we can enable it for your firm.
Q: The Pirros tab does not appear in Revit after installation. What should I do?
A: Close Revit completely and reopen it. If the tab still does not appear, verify the installation completed without errors and that no antivirus software blocked the plugin files. If the issue persists, follow the steps in the Troubleshooting Guide.
Q: Can the plugin be installed on a Mac?
A: No. The Pirros Revit plugin requires Windows because Revit itself is a Windows-only application.
