Mira Skills Library: Ready-Made Skills for Common Revit Tasks

Six skills Pirros publishes and keeps up to date in every Mira install: renumber details on a sheet, audit annotation against your firm's template, bulk-edit text notes, set parameters in bulk, center room tags, and flip grid heads.

The Skills Library is a set of skills that Pirros writes, tests and keeps up to date for documentation chores you'd otherwise do by hand. A skill gives Mira a proven, step-by-step method for one task, so it looks before it acts, asks before it changes anything, and handles the cases that trip up a quick script.

Nothing to install or turn on. Library skills download to Mira when you start Revit, and Pirros improves them without a new Mira release. You need Mira 2.0 or later on Revit 2025, 2026 or 2027. See Mira Release Notes to check your version.

Skill

What it does

Try asking

Renumber details on a sheet

/renumber-detail-views-on-sheet

Renumbers the detail number of every view on a sheet, in the order you choose.

"Renumber the details on this sheet."

Annotation standards audit

/annotation-standards-audit

Checks a view's annotation styles against your firm's template, then remaps what doesn't match.

"Audit this view against our standards."

Bulk text-note edits

/bulk-text-note-edits

Finds and replaces wording, merges notes, and fixes formatting across many text notes at once.

"Replace DRAFT with FINAL in every text note."

Set parameters in bulk

/bulk-set-parameters

Fills in values on existing parameters across many elements, from a table, a rule or a selection.

"Set Fire Rating to 1 HR on the doors I've selected."

Center room tags

/center-room-tags

Moves each room's reference point and tag to the center of the room.

"Center the room tags in this view."

Flip grid heads

/flip-grid-heads

Swaps which end of each grid shows its bubble, in the current view.

"Flip the grid heads on the selected grids."

Run a skill

You can run a library skill in two ways:

Ask in plain English

Describe the task the way you'd say it to a colleague. Mira matches your request to the right skill and loads it, so you don't need to know the skill's name. When the task is about specific elements, select them first: Mira reads your selection.

Pick a skill by name

  1. Click in the message box and type / as the first character. A list of skills opens above the box.

  2. Keep typing to narrow the list. Use the ↑ and ↓ keys to move, and press Enter or Tab to choose. The skill name is added to your message, but nothing is sent yet.

  3. Type what you want after the skill name, then send. For example: /center-room-tags all rooms on Level 2

Press Esc to close the list. If you mistype a skill name, send the message anyway: Mira works out which skill you meant, or asks.

What every library skill does

  • Looks first. Mira reads the sheet, view or selection and tells you what it found before it proposes anything.

  • Waits for your go-ahead. Mira shows a preview or a summary of the change, and doesn't touch the model until you approve it.

  • Reports honestly. Mira checks the result after the change and names anything it skipped, and why.

  • Undoes in one step. Most skills make their whole change as a single step, so one Ctrl+Z reverses it. Mira tells you when that's the case.

Some skills build a small Revit tool the first time they run. When that happens, Mira asks you to allow it. See Mira Tool Permissions: What the "Allow" Prompts Mean.

Skill by skill

Renumber details on a sheet

Open the sheet and ask Mira to renumber it. Mira reads where each viewport's title sits, works out the pattern the sheet uses now, and looks at your other sheets to see how your firm usually numbers.

It then draws a small diagram of the new numbering for each option and asks you to choose one:

  • Bottom-up, left to right (the National CAD Standard order)

  • Top-down, left to right

  • Bottom-up, column by column

  • By the title block's grid cells

  • A custom order you describe

After you choose, Mira confirms the format (1, 2, 3, letters, padded numbers such as 01, or a different starting number) and renumbers the sheet.

  • Viewports are ordered by where their titles sit, not by the middle of each viewport, so details of different heights in one row stay in that row.

  • Detail numbers that aren't plain numbers, such as SIM or N.T.S., are pointed out rather than overwritten. Tell Mira about any viewport to leave alone, such as a legend.

  • Say "this is our firm standard" and Mira remembers your numbering method for next time. It still shows you the plan before it renumbers.

Annotation standards audit

Use this when a view's annotation doesn't match your firm's graphic standards, typically a detail that came from another project, a consultant or a manufacturer.

  1. Open the view and ask Mira to audit it. Mira asks you to choose your firm's template file (.rte or .rvt).

  2. Mira reads the template and shows a short summary of your standards, such as which text types are for notes and which are for titles. Check the summary and confirm it.

  3. Mira compares the view with your standards. Where the match is clear, it says so. Where it isn't sure, it lists ranked suggestions and how many elements each choice affects, so you can pick one or skip it.

  4. Approve the remap, and Mira updates the view. The original types stay in the model.

Text is matched by size and by purpose (notes to notes, titles to titles), so a note in a slightly different font or size still finds the closest standard type. When a line weight has no exact match, Mira offers the next heavier and lighter weights and lets you choose.

No firm's standards are built into this skill. It reads them from the template you choose, so it works the same way for any firm.

Bulk text-note edits

Change the wording or formatting of many text notes in one pass.

  • Find and replace. "Replace Old Material Name with New Material Name in every view." Mira first finds every match and asks about the things a plain find-and-replace gets wrong: whether each note keeps its own capitalization (ALL CAPS stays ALL CAPS), whether to change whole words only (so board doesn't change baseboard), and which views to include. It then tells you how many notes will change, skips notes that are already correct, and waits for your go-ahead.

  • Merge. Select several text notes and ask Mira to combine them into one.

  • Restyle. Change text color, make notes uppercase, or remove stray subscript and superscript without losing the rest of the formatting.

This skill edits text notes only, not keynotes, dimensions or tags. To bring text note types in line with your firm's standards, use the annotation standards audit.

Set parameters in bulk

Fill in values on parameters your elements already have, across as many elements as you need, in one pass.

  • From a table. Paste a table where each row's Mark identifies the element: "Update these door parameters from this table." Mira matches rows to elements by Mark, and tells you about any Mark it can't find or finds more than once.

  • By rule. "Set Fire Rated to Yes wherever Fire Rating has a value." Or fill only the blanks with a default and leave existing values alone.

  • Across a selection, a category or a view. "Set Comments to Verify in field on the selected windows."

  • Materials and worksets. Set a material parameter by the material's name, or "Move all furniture from Workset A to Workset B."

Before it writes anything, Mira tells you how many elements and which parameters it will change. For a type parameter, it warns you that the change applies to every element of that type.

Mira reads each value back after setting it and lists anything it couldn't change, such as a missing or read-only parameter, instead of reporting success. This skill doesn't create new parameters or add parameters to categories.

Center room tags

Select rooms or room tags and ask Mira to center them. If nothing is selected, Mira asks whether to center every room in the view. Mira moves each room's reference point (the crosshair) to the middle of the room, then moves the room's tag to match.

By default, Mira moves both the reference point and the tag, and removes leaders. Ask if you want only the tags moved, only the reference points moved, or the leaders kept.

Mira lists any room it couldn't center by name, so you know which ones to place by hand: rooms that are unplaced or not enclosed, rooms in linked models, and some L- or U-shaped rooms, such as long corridors, whose center falls outside the room.

Flip grid heads

Select grids and ask Mira to flip their heads. If nothing is selected, Mira asks you to select grids or offers to work on every grid in the view. Mira shows a table of each grid's bubbles now and after the change, points out any grid with a bubble at both ends or at neither, and waits for your go-ahead.

You can also ask for bubbles at both ends, no bubbles at all, or bubbles only at the top, bottom, left or right.

Grid bubbles are set per view, so the change applies to the current view only. Afterwards, Mira offers to apply the same setup to other views, such as your other floor plans. Changes made to several views can take more than one Ctrl+Z to undo.

How library skills stay up to date

  • Mira checks for library updates each time you start Revit. When Pirros improves a skill, you get the new version automatically. If Pirros retires a skill, Mira removes it.

  • A library skill takes the place of an older copy of the same skill installed with Mira, so you always run the current version.

  • Don't edit library skills in the skills folder. Mira restores Pirros's version the next time you start Revit.

  • Updates never touch your custom skills. Give each custom skill its own name: while a library skill with the same name is available, Mira uses the library skill instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do library skills cost extra?

A: No. Running a skill uses your Mira allowance the same way any other request does. Only each skill's name and one-line description are part of your messages; Mira reads the full skill only when a request needs it.

Q: Can I make a library skill work the way my firm does?

A: Yes. For one run, say what you want in your message: "Renumber this sheet top-down, starting at 5." For every run, ask Mira to remember your preference, or create a custom skill with its own name that describes how your firm does it. See Create Custom Skills for Mira.

Q: Will a skill change my model without asking?

A: No. Every library skill shows you what it plans to change and waits for your go-ahead.

Q: I don't see the library skills.

A: Check that you are on Mira 2.0 or later; Mira Release Notes shows how to check and update. Then restart Revit so Mira can download the library. If the skills are still missing, email [email protected].
