What Mira can do with and without the QMS add-on

Mira works for everyone. Reading and writing your Pirros library requires the quality management add-on. What changes, and how to tell which version you have.

Mira works in Revit for everyone — with or without a Pirros subscription. What the quality management add-on changes is whether Mira can reach into your firm's Pirros library.

This article explains the difference, because several help articles describe workflows that only work with the add-on.

Mira on its own

This is Mira as most people know it, and it is what you get free or on an individual paid plan.

  • Ask questions about the model you have open

  • Tell Mira to make changes in Revit

  • Have it create new content

  • Build and reuse custom skills

In this configuration Mira is its own plugin, installed separately and living alongside the Pirros Revit plugin. The two are separate products with separate installers, and they are designed to run at the same time.

Mira has no automatic access to your Pirros library here. It cannot search your typical details or families, it cannot use them as context, and it cannot change anything in your library.

Mira with the quality management add-on

When your firm is on the add-on, Mira can reach your Pirros library directly. That unlocks a set of workflows that are impossible otherwise:

  • Search your library — your typical details, families, and standard content

  • Use your library as context — for example, checking whether every component in an open detail is one of your typical families

  • Write back to your library

  • Receive issues from Project Review and act on them in the model

This is what makes the two halves of Pirros work as one thing rather than two tools that happen to be installed together.

Which one do I have?

The quickest test is to ask Mira something that requires the library. For example:

"Which families in this open detail are part of our typical family library in Pirros?"

If Mira can search Pirros and answer, your firm has the add-on. If it tells you it has no access to a library, you are on standard Mira.

If you are not sure what your firm is on, ask whoever administers Pirros at your office.
