When you download Details from Pirros into Revit, two shared parameters are added to those views: PirrosID and PirrosInSync. These parameters are used by the Pirros plugin to track versioning and sync status.
Before delivering a model to a client or archiving it, you may want to remove these parameters.
Prerequisite: You need edit access to the Revit model. This is a model-level change, so coordinate with your team before proceeding.
The steps depend on which plugin generation you have: Pirros in Revit (v4.x, Revit 2024 and newer) or the classic plugin (v3.x, Revit 2020–2023). Not sure which one you're running? See Pirros in Revit vs the Classic Plugin.
How to Remove Parameters in Pirros in Revit (v4.x)
Open the Revit model that contains Pirros-downloaded details
Click Pirros on the ribbon to open the Pirros panel
Go to the Settings tab
Scroll to the Remove Pirros parameters section and click Remove Pirros parameters
Click Remove parameters in the confirmation dialog
Save the model to keep the change
In Pirros in Revit, removal is permanent: the PirrosID and PirrosInSync values are deleted from the model and cannot be restored. If the Remove Pirros parameters button is disabled with a "Connecting to Revit" message, give it a moment — if it does not clear, update the Pirros plugin, as this feature needs a newer version than the one running.
How to Remove Parameters in the Classic Plugin (v3.x)
Open the Revit model that contains Pirros-downloaded details
Go to Settings → About
Control + Alt click the Pirros logo — the Pirros Diagnostics window opens
Navigate to the Tools tab
Click Remove Pirros Parameter Metadata
Save the model
In the classic plugin, removal is reversible: the plugin keeps a hidden backup of the values inside the model, and the same button — now labelled Restore Pirros Parameter Metadata — adds the parameters back and reconnects the Details. If your client requires that no Pirros data remain in the file at all, be aware that this hidden backup stays in the model; only Pirros in Revit deletes the values outright.
What This Affects
PirrosID is the unique identifier linking each Detail to its Pirros record. Removing it means the plugin can no longer match these Details to the Library — if you sync this model later, Pirros will treat the Details as new uploads rather than updates.
PirrosInSync tracks whether the local Detail matches the Pirros version. Removing it has no functional impact beyond losing that status indicator.
When to Remove Parameters
Before client delivery — clients don't need Pirros parameters in their models
Before archiving — if the Project is complete and won't be synced again
Do NOT remove if you plan to continue syncing this model with Pirros, as it will cause duplicates on next sync
What Happens Next
After removing the parameters, the Details remain in your model as normal Revit views. They are no longer connected to Pirros. The Pirros plugin will not recognize them for sync, Download Latest, or update purposes.
In the classic plugin you can reconnect them at any time with Restore Pirros Parameter Metadata. In Pirros in Revit, the only way to reconnect is to re-download the Details from the Library, which creates new copies with fresh Pirros IDs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will removing Pirros parameters affect how the Details look or print?
A: No. The parameters are metadata only — they do not affect the geometry, annotations, or appearance of any Detail.
Q: Can I add the parameters back later?
A: In the classic plugin, yes — the same button in the Tools tab becomes Restore Pirros Parameter Metadata and reconnects every Detail. In Pirros in Revit, no — removal is permanent. To reconnect Details to Pirros you would need to re-download them from the Library, which creates new copies with fresh Pirros IDs.
Q: Do I need to remove parameters from every view individually?
A: No. Removing the shared parameters at the Project level removes them from all views in the model at once.
Q: Why is the Remove Pirros parameters button grayed out in Pirros in Revit?
A: The panel is still connecting to Revit. If it stays disabled, your plugin version predates this feature — update the Pirros plugin and try again.
