Which plugin do you have? Look at the Pirros tab in the Revit ribbon. A single Pirros button that opens a docked panel with Browse, Updates, Sync and Settings tabs means you have Pirros in Revit. Separate Sync, Download, Settings, Pirros and Live Link buttons mean you have the classic plugin. Don't go by the version number alone: on Revit 2020–2023 the classic plugin can show a 4.x version number.
The new Pirros plugin brings the Pirros web app directly into Revit as a dockable panel. Instead of separate windows for downloading, uploading, and syncing, all of that now happens in one panel that lives alongside your model — same library, same account, same content, no switching between Revit and a browser.
Open the Pirros Panel
In Revit, open the Pirros tab in the ribbon and click the Pirros button.
The panel opens docked to the right side of your Revit window. Click the Pirros button again to hide it.
Sign in with your Pirros account. You stay signed in after restarting Revit. The first time, a welcome screen appears; click Get started.
The Four Tabs
Browse — Search and filter your firm's full library without leaving Revit. Insert content by dragging it straight into your model or clicking Insert. Families with multiple types show a type picker so only the types you check come in; single-type families place immediately. In the type picker (Select types to import), every type starts checked, so uncheck any you don't need.
Updates — When your firm's library has a newer version of a detail or family that's in your model, it appears here (the tab's heading reads Download Latest). Review the list — each item shows its name, its type and the date it was updated in Pirros — and pull the latest version in.
Sync — The reverse direction: the details, sheets, loadable families, system families and groups in your model show up here. By default (Recommended) the list shows content you've modified since it was last synced, plus content that isn't in Pirros yet. Select what to push back, add a change message so your team knows what changed, and sync — each tracked item versions in place in your library, and content that isn't in Pirros yet is added as new. Settings — Project settings, Plugin preferences, and version info: link the model to a Pirros project under Project, turn Live Link and Prevent duplicate families on or off (both are on by default), Remove Pirros parameters from a project, Sign out, and see your Plugin and Revit versions near the bottom.
At the top of the panel, the header shows the Pirros project the model is linked to (or No project linked); click it to open Settings. The refresh icon reloads the panel, and the help icon opens the Pirros Help Center.
What's Different from the Classic Plugin?
One panel instead of many windows. Browse, insert, update, and sync all happen in the docked panel — no separate download or upload dialogs.
Always current. The panel is the live web app, so new panel features appear without waiting for a plugin update. Some features also need a newer version of the plugin installed in Revit — for example, Remove Pirros parameters tells you to update the Pirros plugin when the version you're running is too old.
Live Link is a setting. Instead of the classic Live Link ribbon button, Pirros in Revit has a Live Link switch on the Settings tab. It's on by default, and while it's on, items you stage for download on the Pirros website are imported into the active model automatically.
Same library. Nothing changes about your firm's content — both plugin generations read and write the same library, and content tracked by the classic plugin is recognized by the new one.

Q: Will my firm's library or projects change when we move to the new plugin?
A: No. Both plugins work against the same Pirros library. Details and families you've synced with the classic plugin are recognized and stay tracked.
Q: How do I get it?
A: Download the latest plugin from app.pirros.com/plugin once it is enabled for your firm.
Q: Does it work offline?
A: No — the panel is the live Pirros web app, so it needs an internet connection, same as the classic plugin.
