About the "Min. plugin version required" column: this is the plugin version at which support for that Revit release was first added. It tells you the oldest plugin build that will work with that Revit version — it does not determine which generation you get. The generation column does that.
The two plugin generations
Pirros in Revit puts your full Pirros library in a dockable panel inside Revit, with Browse, Updates, Sync, and Settings tabs. The classic plugin uses purpose-built Revit windows and dialogs driven from the Pirros ribbon.
Both generations read and write the same Pirros library, and one installer sets up the correct generation for every Revit version on your machine — you don't choose. Mixed-version firms are fully supported: Revit 2023 machines use the classic plugin while Revit 2025 machines use Pirros in Revit, against the same library at the same time.
The classic plugin is fully supported and continues to receive fixes. For the full comparison, see Pirros in Revit vs the Classic Plugin: Which One Do I Have?
Pirros in Revit is enabled firm by firm. If you're on Revit 2024 or newer and still see the classic plugin, your firm hasn't been switched on yet — nothing is wrong with your installation. Contact support or your CSM to be enabled.
Looking for Mira's version support? It's different. Mira — the AI agent — requires Revit 2025 or newer and is a separate product with its own installer. This table does not apply to it. See Meet Mira: The AI Agent for Revit.
Uploading without the plugin (APS)
Alongside uploading from inside Revit, Pirros can ingest Revit files through the Autodesk Platform Services (APS) integration in the web app. This is a completely separate mechanism — it doesn't involve Revit or either plugin, and it isn't tied to your Revit version or your plugin generation.
It's the route to use when you want to get models into Pirros without opening them in Revit, including files stored in a partner's ACC or BIM 360 account. See Request Access to Project Files stored on your Partners' ACC/BIM 360 account and Uploading Projects and Source Files.
How to check your current plugin version
Open Revit and click the Pirros tab in the ribbon.
Click the Settings icon (gear icon).
Your plugin version is shown in the About section. 4.x means you're on Pirros in Revit; 3.x or lower means the classic plugin.
How to update to the latest version
See Revit Plugin: Download & Installation for step-by-step instructions.
If Auto Update is enabled in the plugin About section, the updates will be scheduled on a nightly basis. If your machine is left running over night with Revit closed, it will auto-install.
If your machine is turned off, please make sure to close all Revit instances before shutting down to ensure the auto-update initializes the next time you launch Revit.
FAQ
Q: My firm uses Revit 2024 and 2025 on different machines. Do I need two installers?
A: No. The standard Pirros installer detects which versions of Revit are installed and sets up support for all of them in one pass.
Q: Which plugin generation will I get?
A: Revit 2024, 2025, and 2026 receive Pirros in Revit as it is enabled for your firm. Revit 2020 through 2023 use the classic plugin. See the table above.
Q: Will Revit 2022 or 2023 get Pirros in Revit?
A: Not currently, and there is no timeline for it. The classic plugin remains fully supported on those versions. If you want the docked panel, moving a project to Revit 2024 or newer is the route.
Q: Can I upload a Revit 2026 file from Revit 2025?
A: No. Revit files must be uploaded from the same version they were saved in. A Revit 2026 .rvt cannot be opened in Revit 2025.
Q: We're still on Revit 2020. Can we use Pirros?
A: Yes. Revit 2020 is supported and uses the classic plugin. You can also upload models through the APS integration in the web app if you'd rather not go through Revit — see above.
Q: Is Revit LT supported?
A: No. Revit LT does not support third-party add-ins. The Pirros plugin requires a full Revit license.
