The IDX20803 error appears when the Pirros plugin cannot reach the authentication server to validate your sign-in credentials. This is almost always caused by a network or browser issue — not a problem with your Pirros account.
What the error looks like
You will see a dialog in the Pirros plugin that reads:
IDX20803: Unable to obtain configuration from: [authentication endpoint URL]
Common causes
Corporate firewall or proxy — Your IT security setup is blocking connections to Pirros authentication servers (Auth0).
Stale browser session — A cached sign-in token has expired and cannot be refreshed.
SSL/TLS inspection — Some corporate proxies intercept HTTPS traffic in a way that breaks the authentication handshake.
SSO misconfiguration — If your firm uses Single Sign-On, a configuration change may have broken the connection.
How to fix it: step by step
In the Pirros plugin, sign back in.
If the error persists, open your browser, clear cookies and cache for pirros.com, then try again.
Try signing in from a private/incognito browser window to rule out a cached session issue.
Temporarily disable your VPN (if you are on one) and try again.
If you are on a corporate network, ask your IT team to whitelist pirros.auth0.com and ensure outbound HTTPS (port 443) is not being intercepted for that domain.
If your firm uses SSO: go to Settings → SSO in the Pirros web app and verify your metadata URL is still valid.
When to escalate
If none of the steps above resolve the issue, contact Pirros support. Include your Revit version, plugin version, and whether the error affects all users at your firm or just you. See When to contact support (and what info to include) for the full checklist.
FAQ
Q: Does this error mean my account has been locked?
A: No. IDX20803 is a network connectivity error, not an account error. Your account status has nothing to do with this message.
Q: The error only happens on my work computer, not my personal one. Why?
A: This strongly indicates a corporate firewall or proxy is blocking the authentication request. Work with your IT team to whitelist pirros.auth0.com.
Q: This started after an IT policy change. What should I tell my IT team?
A: A new firewall rule, proxy configuration, or SSL inspection policy may be blocking the auth endpoint. Share this article with your IT team and ask them to check outbound rules for pirros.auth0.com on port 443.
Q: Will reinstalling the plugin fix this?
A: No. This is a network issue, not a plugin installation issue. Reinstalling will not help.
