Roles and Permissions in Pirros

Pirros uses a role-based permissions system to manage access across your firm.

Overview

Pirros uses a role-based permissions system to manage access across your firm. Roles are created at the firm level, and users are assigned a role within each workspace. This means the same user can have different levels of access in different workspaces.

For example, someone could be an Admin in one workspace but have View Only access in another.

Default Role Types

Admin

Admin is the default super-administrator role in Pirros.

Admins:

  • Have all permissions automatically

  • Can upload and delete content on Pirros

  • Can invite and delete users off of Pirros

  • Have full access to all features and settings

This role is best for firm owners, practice managers, and IT administrators who need complete control.

Member

Member is the default user role in Pirros.

Members:

  • Have permission to view and download content

  • Cannot upload content into the library without approval from an Admin

  • Cannot view analytics of usage on Pirros

Custom Roles

Custom roles allow your firm to create tailored permission sets for different types of users.

Custom roles:

  • Can include any combination of permissions

  • Can be edited as your team’s needs change

  • Can be deleted, as long as no active users are assigned to them

  • Are specific to your firm

This is useful for creating roles such as Project Manager, BIM Coordinator, View-Only Consultant, or any other role your team needs.

Default Permission Templates

When creating a new role, you can start with one of the default templates and adjust it as needed.

Admin

The Admin Role is a special super-administrator role that:

  • Has all permissions automatically

  • Can upload and delete content on Pirros

  • Can invite and delete users off of Pirros

  • Has full access to all features and settings

Member

A Member Role is a balanced role for standard users who actively work in Pirros.

Includes permissions to:

  • View details and projects

  • Download project details and typical details

  • Create tickets and flags

  • View and download firm stashes

  • Edit and request projects

View Only

A limited-access role for users who only need to review content.

Includes permissions to:

  • View details

  • View projects

  • View families

  • View firm stashes

Users with this role cannot download, create, edit, or delete content.

IT Administrator

A role focused on user management.

Includes permissions to:

  • Invite users

  • Update user roles

  • Delete users

This template does not include content permissions by default.

Permissions in Pirros are grouped into categories so you can build roles more easily.

Details

  • Typical

    • Create Typical Details

      • Ability to Upload Typical Details into Pirros

    • Edit Typical Details

      • Ability to Update Existing Typical Details on Pirros

    • Delete Typical Details

      • Ability to Delete Typical Details off of Pirros

    • Revert Typical Details

      • Ability to revert back to a previous version of a typical detail

      • Reverting back to a previous change

      • This affects the active version of a detail for ALL staff members

    • Download Typical Details

      • Ability to Download Typical Details into Active Revit projects

    • Upgrade Typical Detail Revit Version

      • Ability to Upgrade the Revit versions available for a typical detail

  • Create Details

    • Ability to Upload project specific details into Pirros

  • View Details

    • Ability to View Details on Pirros

  • Edit Details

    • Ability to update existing Project Details and sync changes from a Revit model to Pirros

  • Delete Details

    • Ability to Delete Project Details off of Pirros

  • Revert Details

    • Ability to revert back to a previous version of a project detail

    • Reverting back to a previous change

    • This affects the active version of a detail for ALL staff members

  • Download Reference Only

    • Ability to download "reference only" details into Revit without needing to request access to those details

  • Download Project Details

    • Ability to download project details into an active Revit project

  • Upgrade Detail Revit Version

    • Ability to Upgrade the Revit versions available for a project detail

Tickets

  • Create Tickets

    • Ability to create tickets for Project Requests, Reference Only Requests, and "Make Typical Version" requests

    • These tickets will then get edited/approved/denied by Admins

  • View Tickets (Management)

    • Ability to view all Tickets left by other staff members on Pirros under the Management Tab

  • Edit Tickets

    • Ability to Approve or Deny Tickets on Pirros

    • Ability to adjust a project request to include the correct project information

Flags

  • Create Flags

    • Ability to Add Flags onto existing content

  • View Flags (Management)

    • Ability to view the entire Flags page on the Management tab

    • Ability to search all existing Flags from other staff members

  • Resolve Flags

    • Ability to resolve and remove Active Flags on a detail/family

Projects

  • Create Projects

    • Ability to create new completed projects on Pirros in order to upload content from those jobs into the platform

  • View Projects

    • Ability to view the projects page

    • Ability to view an individual project page with the:

      • Project Filters

      • Project Drawing Set

      • Project Content

  • Edit Projects

    • Ability to edit the project filters of an existing project

    • Ability to rename and renumber an existing project

  • Delete Projects

    • Ability to Delete an entire project, with all of the details, families, and information attached to the project

  • Toggle Reference Only

    • Make an entire project "Reference Only" on Pirros, which means no normal members will be able to download the details from these projects.

Firm Stashes

  • Create Firm Stashes

    • Ability to create Firm Stashes

  • View Firm Stashes

    • Ability to view existing Firm Stashes

  • Edit Firm Stashes

    • Ability to add content and remove content from a Firm Stash

    • Ability to rename a Firm Stash

  • Archive Firm Stashes

    • Move an existing Firm Stash into the Archive so that it is no longer reference-able by staff as a new firm stash

  • Delete Firm Stashes

    • Delete the entire Firm Stash from Pirros so no users can ever reuse it or reference it

Analytics

  • View Analytics

    • Ability to View the Pirros Analytics for the entire workspace under the Management tab

Typical Suggestions

  • View Typical Suggestions

    • Ability to View the Pirros Suggestions Page under the Management tab

Tags

  • Create Tag Definitions

    • Create new Tags to organize the content on Pirros

  • Edit Tag Definitions

    • Edit the names of existing Tags

    • Ability to add existing Tags onto content on Pirros

  • Delete Tags

    • Ability to delete existing Tags from Pirros entirely

Source Files

  • Create Source Files

    • Upload more RVT, RTE, and RFA files into Pirors

  • View Source Files

    • View what RVT, RTE, and RFA files have been loaded into Pirros

  • Edit Source Files

  • Delete Source Files

    • Delete and completely remove details from Pirros from certain source files

Filters

  • Create Project Filters

    • Create new project filters

  • Edit Project Filters

    • Adjust the value options for any filters

    • Adjust the Content Type of a filter from Fill in The Blank, Single Value from DropDown, and Multiple Values from Dropdown

  • Delete Project Filters

Users

  • Invite Users

    • Adjust a user's current role within a workspace to a different role

    • Adjust Just In Time Provisioning Settings

Families

  • Manage Typical Families

    • Create/Upload Typical Families

    • Edit/Update Typical Families

    • Delete Typical Families

    • Revert Typical Families

      • Revert the Family to a previous version that was overridden

    • Download Typical Families

    • Upgrade Typical Family Revit Version

      • Upgrade the Family to a later Revit version

  • View Families
