This guide explains how section and callout references function in Pirros.

Updated over a month ago

Currently, Pirros only supports importing and maintaining live references from section references and callouts.

When you import details into Revit from Pirros:

  • Section Callouts and References come in with live reference bubbles

  • By default, the reference bubble will appear different due to Revit's limitations in exporting this data.

  • You will need to download the "parent" and "child" details in one stage for download in order to keep the live reference.

    • You can stage from the search page or put all the views into a stash and stage for download at once.

If you download just the parent or just the child detail without the corresponding linked detail:

  • The reference bubble will disappear and will not bring in the linked detail

If you download just the parent and child detail, without the parent sheet that house both details:

  • The reference bubble will still appear, but it will look blank or inactive.

  • This happens because the linked sheet number possibly doesn't exist in the model, even though the reference ID is technically live in the system.

Step 1: Find the detail with references.

Step 2: Create a user stash with the referenced details.

Step 3: Stage for download.

To preserve full functionality:

Download the entire sheet or sheets into Revit at once from Pirros:

This ensures:

  • All reference bubbles and section callouts remain active and clickable

  • The linked views are properly mapped in the model

  • The numbers of the details and sheet number remain within the bubble

  • You avoid missing connections or broken references

Step 1: When performing your search, apply the filter under Detail Type to narrow results specifically to sheets within Pirros.

Step 2: Clicking Open Full Detail on a sheet takes you to the Sheet page. Here, you’ll see a larger view of the sheet, with all individual details displayed on the right-hand side.

Step 3: Complete your download to Revit.

Notice that the section (bottom bubble) retains the preserved station reference from the original sheet, whereas the reference bubble (top bubble) reverts to a horizontal reference relative to the original sheet.
