Welcome to Pirros! While the platform offers plenty of features and options, this guide breaks down the basic things you need to help you get started as quickly as possible. You'll view, upload, and download details using Pirros!
This page follows the basic setup path in Pirros, so you can get started and follow along in the product. If you are not using Pirros yet and just looking for more in-depth information about Pirros, check out the other pages in this section!
How Pirros Works
At its core, Pirros helps improve your firm's detailing process with an easy-to-use, in-house search engine. The diagram below shows in a very simple sense, how it works:
Pirros is incredibly flexible in helping you achieve your detailing goals. Before you begin, ask the following questions. Your answers can help you understand what you need to get out of using Pirros!
How much time are you spending looking for details from past projects for reference?
Do you find yourself copying and pasting details from past projects and not modifying them accordingly?
Are you having to recreate past project details multiple times?
What browsers do we support?
We actively test our database with the latest two versions of Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox.
You may find that an earlier version or a different browser works for you. If you run into any trouble in our database, you might want to update your browser or switch to a supported platform to make sure you are not encountering a browser-based issue.
Get Started
Administrators
When you start setting up Pirros, we provide you with a guideline list. You don't have to do everything on the list, but you must do the following things before you and your firm can really take advantage of Pirros.
Create an account and invite users.
Upload your firm's set of standard details to Typical Details
Upload past project details per project.
Invite Users
After you create your account, you'll invite your firm's employees as users. The amount of licenses you are allowed is written on your account page, so you know how many users you are allotted to invite.
As an admin, you can change any users to an admin after inviting them.
What is an Administrator in Pirros?
As an admin, you can do a number of things that typical users are restricted from doing:
You can add Project Filters based on project parameters to refine your firm's search to projects that are more likely to have similar conditions and details.
Invite more users from your firm!
Add vetted details to your typical detail library.
Create firm stashes for your whole team to see.
Upload models containing typical details and project details to your database.
Upload details to Pirros
The simplest way you can upload details into your database on Pirros is by uploading source models that correspond with projects or your typical detail library. Only Administrators have the capability of doing this. Follow the steps below to do this:
Go onto the Projects Page on Pirros and open View Source Models on the top right.
Here you will see any active uploads currently happening as well as past uploads that have been completed.
Click on Upload New Models to begin.
You have two options for how you want to upload:
You can drag-and-drop Revit Models into the platform.
You can link your Autodesk account to Pirros to find your models saved under your account.
After selecting models, you must give each model a project name and number or distinguish it as Typical Details.
Then Click Upload
You will be able to see the details coming into each project and see the progress of each upload back on this page.
Upload details from Revit
Before uploading any details, you need to download the Revit Pirros Plugin that you can find on our Plugin page. Installation Instructions:
Click the button to download the Revit Plugin V1.03. After download completion, run the installer and follow the on screen prompts.
The plugin will automatically install for Revit Versions 2020-2024.
After you have downloaded the Revit Plugin.
Open a Revit model that you want to include into Pirros.
Go to the add-ins tab on Revit to find our Pirros Plugin and log in to your account.
Open project settings to assign typical details or a project name and number to your Revit model.
Click upload details and select which details from your model to upload onto Pirros for your entire firm's use.
Depending on the size of your model and the number of details uploading, this may take a while. All you have to do is what until you get a "Finished" pop-up on Revit.
Now, your details from that Revit model are uploaded onto Pirros and ready for use by all your firm's members.
Users
As a user, you will get an invite to your firm's Pirros account from your admin. Steps to begin using Pirros:
