Understanding the Details Page

What you see when you open a detail — versions, history, tags, references, and download options.

Updated this week

The Details page shows all searchable details in your firm's Pirros library — both vetted typical details and project-specific details from uploaded models. This article explains what you see and what you can do from this page.

The All Details page showing detail cards in a grid layout. Each card displays a thumbnail preview, detail name, project name, and sheet information. Use the search bar at the top and filters on the left to find what you need.

Admins can customize what appears on detail cards in Settings → Firm Settings → Display.

Quick Tools (Detail Preview)

Click any detail card to open the preview panel. From here you can:

  1. Download to Revit or Download PDF for markups

  1. View the full sheet this detail belongs to

The sheet link on the detail preview. Click it to open the full sheet view showing all details on that sheet.

  1. Add tags and notes to provide context for your team

The tags and notes section on the detail page. Add keyword tags for filtering and rich text notes with guidance for your team — like which annotations to update or project-specific instructions.

  1. Attach related files — specifications, RFIs, field photos, calculations

The Related Files section. Click Upload New to attach any file type — PDFs, Word documents, Illustrator files, field photos, and more.

  1. View similar details, version history, and usage data

Similar Details

Pirros automatically groups similar and duplicate details together. When variations of the same detail exist across projects, they appear stacked — allowing you to compare and choose the best fit for your condition.

Version History

Click History in the left panel to see every update made to a detail. Each entry shows what changed, who made the change, the change message, and when it happened.

The History tab showing version entries with timestamps, change messages, and author names. The most recent version appears at the top. Admins can revert to a previous version if needed.

Detail Notes

Add rich text notes visible to your entire team. Use notes to share context about a detail — which annotations to modify, project-specific requirements, or links to external documents like specs and calculations.

Tags

Tags are keyword labels that help your team filter details by category. Apply tags to details so colleagues can filter search results by construction type, material, or any other category your firm uses.

The Tags section on a detail showing applied tags. Click to add or remove tags from the dropdown.

The tag filter panel in the left sidebar. Select tags to narrow search results to details with those labels.

Related Files

Attach supporting documents to any detail — specifications, RFIs, field photos, calculations, or any other file type.

The Related Files section with the Upload New button. Click it to attach files from your computer. Supported formats include PDFs, Word documents, images, and more.

Other Details on Same Sheet

At the bottom of the detail page, see all other details that were on the same sheet in the original project. This helps you understand the full context of how the detail was used.

The "Other Details on Same Sheet" section showing companion details from the original project sheet. Click any to navigate to that detail.

Referenced Details

Details include links to their references — views that are called out within the detail (forward references) and views that call out this detail (backward references). For example, a wall elevation (backward reference) calls out the wall assembly detail (forward reference).

The Referenced Details section showing forward and backward references with clickable links to each referenced view.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I edit a detail directly on the Details page?

A: No. Details are edited in Revit and synced back to Pirros. From the Details page, you can add tags, notes, and related files — but the detail content itself is managed through the Revit plugin.

Q: What do the similar detail groupings mean?

A: Pirros automatically detects when multiple projects have similar details for the same condition. They're grouped together so you can compare variations and choose the best fit — rather than browsing through dozens of near-identical results.

Q: Can anyone add tags and notes, or only admins?

A: This depends on your firm's role configuration. By default, admins can create new tags and members can apply existing tags. Notes can be added by anyone with edit permissions. Check your role's permissions in Settings → Roles.

Q: How do I see which details are most downloaded at my firm?

A: Admins can view download analytics in Management → Analytics. Members do not have access to this data by default.
