How to Flag a Detail for Review

Flag a detail that needs attention — whether it's outdated, incorrect, or a candidate for your typical library.

Updated over a week ago

To report a problem with a detail — or suggest it for promotion to your firm's typical library — flag it for your admin team to review.

This video demonstrates the full flagging workflow: selecting a detail, adding a flag comment with markup, tagging colleagues, and how admins review and resolve flags. The step-by-step text below covers everything in the video.

How to Flag a Detail

An animated walkthrough showing a user opening a detail, clicking the Flag icon, adding a comment, and submitting the flag. The flag appears in the admin's Management tab for review.

  1. Search for and click on the detail you want to flag

  1. Click the Flag icon at the top right corner of the detail view

  1. Describe the issue in the comment box at the bottom right

  1. Use the @ symbol to tag specific colleagues if you want their attention

  1. Use the Pencil tool at the bottom of the comment box to mark up the detail image and indicate what needs to change

The markup tool overlay. Click the pencil icon to draw directly on the detail image — circle the area that needs attention or draw arrows pointing to specific issues.

  1. Use the attachment icon to attach supporting files. Supported file types: RVT, RFA, PNG, JPG, and PDF

The attachment icon in the comment toolbar. Click it to upload files from your computer — Revit models (RVT), family files (RFA), images (PNG, JPG), or PDF documents that help the admin understand the issue.

  1. Click the send icon (orange airplane) to submit the flag

The send button (orange airplane icon) at the bottom right of the comment box. Click it to submit your flag. Your admin team receives a notification immediately.

How Admins Review and Resolve Flags

An animated walkthrough of the admin flag review process: opening the Management tab, viewing flagged details, reading comments, and clicking Resolve Flags after updating the detail.

Admins see all flagged details in Management → Flagged Details:

  1. Click Management in the top navigation bar, then Flagged Details

The Management tab showing the Flagged Details option in the left sidebar. Click it to see all active flags from your team.

  1. Review the flagged details and add comments

  1. After updating the detail in Revit and syncing, click Resolve Flags

The Resolve Flags button at the top of a flagged detail. Click it after the issue has been addressed. The flag is cleared from the active queue but preserved in the detail's Flags history.

Resolved flags remain visible in the detail's Flags section for reference. Navigate to the detail, click Flags on the left panel, then click Resolved Flags to view past flag history.

What Happens Next

After you submit a flag, your admin team receives a notification via email and in the Pirros Management tab. Once they review the flag, update the detail, and click Resolve, you receive a notification that the issue has been addressed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I flag a detail to suggest it should become a typical?

A: Yes. Use the flag comment to explain why — for example, "We use this detail on every healthcare project, it should be a firm standard." Your admin sees this in their flagged queue.

Q: Will I be notified when my flag is resolved?

A: Yes. When an admin resolves a flag, you receive a notification that the detail has been updated.

Q: Can I flag multiple details at once?

A: Flags are submitted one detail at a time. Each flag has its own comment thread and can be resolved independently.

Q: What's the difference between flagging and requesting?

A: Flagging is for details that already exist in Pirros and need attention (errors, updates, promotion to typical). Requesting is for content that doesn't exist yet — use Request Details or Request Project for that.

Q: What file types can I attach to a flag?

A: You can attach RVT (Revit models), RFA (family files), PNG, JPG (images), and PDF documents.
