If you need a Revit family that doesn't exist in your firm's Pirros library, you can submit a request for your admin team to source or create it.
How to Submit a Family Request
Navigate to the Families page
Click Request Family (or use the request option from the navigation menu)
Describe the family you need β include:
Family category (e.g., Doors, Casework, Plumbing Fixtures)
Specific type or size if applicable
Manufacturer or product line if you have a preference
Project context β which project needs it and by when
Submit the request
Your admin team receives a notification and can either upload an existing family from their files or source a new one.
What Happens Next
Your admin will either add the family to Pirros and notify you, or respond with an alternative recommendation. Once the family is uploaded, you can find it by searching the Families page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I upload a family myself if I already have the .rfa file?
A: Only admins can upload families to Pirros. Send the .rfa file to your admin and ask them to upload it, or attach it to your request.
Q: How is this different from flagging a family?
A: Flagging is for reporting issues with families that already exist in Pirros. Requesting is for families that are not yet in the library.
Q: Will the requested family be available to everyone or just me?
A: Once uploaded, the family is available to everyone in your workspace β unless your admin restricts it.
