Import / Export in the Management Tab

The Import / Export tool (under the Management tab) lets you export your Pirros library to an Excel file, make bulk edits like tagging and notes, and then import the file back into Pirros to apply those updates at scale.

Updated today

Where to Find It

  1. Open Pirros

  2. In the left sidebar, go to Management and select the Import / Export tab

From here, you can export your library as an Excel file and re-upload the edited spreadsheet.

What Gets Exported

Export All Details/Families

When you export from Import / Export, Pirros exports everything in your database (all details or all families in your library) into an Excel file.

The exported spreadsheet includes key fields like:

  • Pirros ID

  • Detail View Name

  • Title on Sheet

  • Detail Number

  • Sheet Name

  • Additional detail metadata

  • Family Name

  • Family Revit Category

  • Additional Family metadata

Tip: Even though the export includes everything, you can still use Excel to filter down to only what you need, like Typical Details, before making edits.

What You Can Update via Import (Bulk Upload)

After you export, you can edit the spreadsheet and import it back into Pirros to update certain fields in bulk. The key supported bulk edits are:

1) Tags (Most Common Use)

Updating tags across many details/families at once, especially for organizing Typical Content.

Workflow:

  1. Decide whether you want to export All Details or All Families into an Excel file

  2. Open the Excel file to view all the exported content

  3. Filter to the details or families you want to update and update the tag column(s) as needed

  4. Save the file

  5. Drag and drop / upload the file back into the Import area to apply the tag updates

2) Notes

You can also use the same export β†’ edit β†’ import workflow to adjust Notes on details in bulk.

This is helpful if your team uses Notes to track extra context (ex: internal guidance, source references, or reminders) without expanding your tag list.
