A one-off review is a single review you start yourself, with no schedule attached. It is the quickest way to see what Pirros finds, and it works whether your model is linked from Forma or uploaded from your machine.
Before you run
Have these ready:
A model added to the project, with extraction finished
Your firm standards uploaded (once, for the whole firm)
Any references you want the review to use — the spec book and consultant drawing sets especially
You can run without references. The review will simply have less to work with when the drawings are ambiguous.
Running it
Open the project and go to the Models tab.
Start a new review.
Select the model to review.
Select the drawing set — the print set from Revit you want checked. You can scope this tightly; reviewing one sheet series produces a much smaller, more digestible result than a full permit set.
Select the codes and standards that apply.
Run it.
"No Milestone"
One-off reviews are not attached to a milestone, and you will see them labelled No Milestone. That is simply what an unscheduled review is called.
You can re-run a one-off review later using the same configuration. When you do, it becomes run 2 of that review, and results build on the first — resolved issues close, dismissed issues stay dismissed, and new problems appear. See How runs build on each other.
Scope it down for your first one
A full permit set produces a lot of findings. For a first review, pick one sheet series rather than the whole set. You will get a result you can actually read through, and you will learn what the issues look like before you take on the volume.
When it finishes
Start with Understanding your review results, which explains the five sources issues come from and how to filter down to what matters.
If you want reviews to run on their own during production rather than being started by hand, see Schedule recurring reviews — though note that requires a Forma-linked model.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need a Forma-linked model to run a one-off review?
A: No. One-off reviews work on an uploaded model too. It is only scheduling that requires a linked model.
Q: Can I run the same review again later?
A: Yes. Re-running uses the same configuration and becomes run 2, building on the first — issues you fixed close automatically and issues you dismissed do not come back.
Q: Why does it say "No Milestone"?
A: That is just what an unscheduled review is called. Nothing is missing or misconfigured.
Q: Can I review just one sheet series?
A: Yes, and for a first review you should. You choose the drawing set, so you can scope it as tightly as you like.
Q: Do I need my firm standards uploaded first?
A: Not strictly — code checks, constructability, default rules and Mira reasoning all work without them. But findings specific to how your firm does things only appear once your standards are loaded.
Q: The review is still running. Can I leave the page?
A: Yes. It runs in the background and the results are there when you come back.
