Request to Download Details

Submit a request when you need to download a reference-only detail.

Some details and families in Pirros are marked as Reference Only by your admin. You can view and reference them, but you need permission before downloading the Revit file.

When You'll See This

When you try to download or stage a Reference Only detail, Pirros displays a Request to Download button instead of the usual download option.

How to Request Access

  1. Find the detail or family you need

  2. Click into it to open the full view

  3. Click Request to Download

  4. In the note field, explain why you need this detail β€” for example: "Using as a starting point for the Jones Residence parapet condition, will modify to match project-specific requirements"

  5. Click Save to submit your request

Your admin receives a notification with your request and note.

What Happens Next

Your admin reviews the request and either approves or responds with guidance. Once approved, you'll receive a notification and can download the detail normally. The approval is specific to that detail β€” other Reference Only content still requires separate requests.

FAQ

Q: Why are some details Reference Only?

A: Admins mark details as Reference Only to prevent team members from downloading and reusing content that hasn't been vetted or may not be appropriate for direct reuse. You can still view and reference them to understand how a condition was detailed.

Q: How long does approval take?

A: It depends on your admin's availability. The request sends an immediate notification. If it's urgent, reach out to your admin directly in addition to submitting the request.

Q: Can I request access to multiple details at once?

A: Each request is submitted individually per detail. If you need access to many details from the same project, mention that in your request note so your admin can consider adjusting the project's Reference Only setting.
